I was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas and after a degree in Agribusiness at Arkansas State University, I was the 4th generation on the family farm) raising mostly rice and soybeans. In 1983, I moved to Perryville, Kentucky, where I served as pastor of the Christian Church while I attended seminary at Lexington Theological Seminary. After graduation in 1987, I became pastor at First Christian Church in Berea, Kentucky. Since then I have done several things including working for the Madison County (KY) Health Department, Habitat for Humanity of Madison County, Foothills Community Action Partnership. I returned to pastoral ministry as Pastor at Guyton Christian Church in the Coastal Empire of Georgia near Savannah. I retired in March 2017 and moved back to Arkansas. My wife Kay has a son, David Sammons, who lives in Greenville, SC, with their four children. Her daughter, Nancy Summerour. Nancy lives in Effingham County with her children, Kaytie and Zane. My son, Russell (Lisa), live in Portland, OR, with their daughters Holly and Lily. My daughter Catherine lives in Chicago, IL.
