Day 8, August 10
All three of us, David, Kay and Rusty, slept through the
night without having to get up or go out.
It was a blessing that we, at least the humans, asked for. I like turning off the TV and getting to bed
early, sleeping 8-9 hours and then waking up refreshed and early enough for
quiet time and getting ready for the day before the day outside the door really
begins.
Our devotions are showing many connections among the things
Kay and I are reading, things that are happening, and our prayers. Connections are good. They are always there even if we don’t often
see them.
I started reading SimChurch. Wow!
It’s like a revelation that must be shared. It’s not about the technology but the new
world, even virtual world that the technological explosion has opened up. Son, Russell, used to play an early computer
game, SimCity. This title is related. It was a game about life. Unexpectedly, the shift from the real world
to the virtual world transformed what we had taken for granted into something
meaningful.
DB says we Disciples of
Jesus are needy in every way. The
original Disciples gave up everything.
“Now they are so poor, so inexperienced, so foolish that they cannot
hope for anything except him who called them.”
Does a life of faith call us to be spiritually poor, emptying ourselves
so Christ can fill us?
